Over Labor Day, my sister invited us out on their boat, and insisted we bring Dakota along. He was pretty tough to get on board at the dock, weighing in at 102 lbs. But we managed. He immediately took his seat on the back bench, and let me tell you, he never moved. He gripped the cushions with his nails the entire time we sped around Torch Lake. It was pretty warm, probably about 85, and so we were all a bit uncomfortable. My brother-in-law decided to fill a bucket with cool lake water, dip a cloth in, and lay it on Dakota's weary head. (see photo). From that point on, Dakota knew he was in good hands. My sister made sure he had plenty of meaty snacks and drinking water. It turned out to be a great, memorable day for all of us. But needless to say, pulling in at the dock was a relief for Dakota. He didn't even need help getting off the boat and began running around on solid ground.
I'm sure he left plenty of hair behind, but my sister and brother-in-law are such good sports about it all, they wouldn't have minded the clean up.
